Poultry production whether it be laying hens or broilers production now demands a lot more from the poultry than was previously the case. In the past lower levels of growth and production were accepted, however now with intensification, lower margins and genetic improvements a lot more is expected and obtained and for survival in r=the business required.
Variables such as in the feed and the animal’s environment if they change can have profound effects on the profitability. If a less than ideal environmental exists then a buildup in health challenges whether through disease or parasites can quickly occur. These challenges are now often on birds that have lower levels of resistance than may have been the case in days gone by.
